Walters Family Foundation

Grant Making Guidelines

The Walters Family Foundation was established in 1999 with the primary interest of funding activities or organizations which address the needs of youth, families, and the elderly. The Foundation has a commitment to bettering the lives of the less fortunate with a particular interest in local community centers and public park and recreation department programs.

In addition, the Foundation's efforts are aimed at programs which enable at-risk individuals and at-risk families to become productive and self-sufficient members of society, as well as contributing to the overall betterment of society.

The Foundation generally does not support endowments, annual or year-end appeals, general operating funds, or grants to individuals.

The Foundation only distributes funds to organizations which qualify as public charities under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 as amended.

The Foundation generally limits its funding to organizations located in the state of Oregon, with preference given to organizations within metropolitan Portland, particularly in the Hillsboro area.
